On 23–24 April 2026, the SUSTAINOVATE project was presented at MATBUD 2026 – the 11th Scientific-Technical Conference on Material Problems in Civil Engineering, held in Kraków, Poland. The conference was organised by Cracow University of Technology and Nantes Université.
Representing the project, Dr. Lina Šeduikytė delivered a presentation focused on one of the most important current challenges in the European construction sector: the transition from voluntary to mandatory life-cycle Global Warming Potential (GWP) assessment of buildings under the revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).
The presentation, titled “Implementing Annex III of the Recast Energy Performance of Buildings Directive: Data and Life Cycle Global Warming Potential Calculation,” addressed the data needs, methodological considerations, and practical challenges related to implementing life-cycle GWP calculations in line with emerging EU requirements.
The presentation was prepared by Lina Šeduikytė, Paulius Vestfal, Anuja Vivek Bhosale, Eglė Klumbytė, and Anneliis Muravleva.
Participation in MATBUD 2026 provided an excellent opportunity to share SUSTAINOVATE insights with an international audience of researchers and practitioners and to contribute to the wider discussion on sustainable, low-carbon construction in Europe.
We sincerely thank the organisers for an inspiring and well-organised conference that brought together experts from across Europe and beyond
